Born in East Java, Indonesia, I migrated to Europe in 2021 to pursue my postgraduate education. He studied for two years with an Erasmus Mundus full scholarship for a master's degree in Bioscience Engineering (Soil Biogeochemistry and Global Change) in three distinguished universities: Ghent University, the University of Natural Science Vienna, and the University of Göttingen.
I wrote a thesis on the socioecological consequences of Indonesia's new capital city development at the University of Göttingen under the supervision of Dr. Philipp Sacher. Thereafter, I grew my interests beyond ecology: people, economy, and the development of society. I graduated summa cum laude.
After accepting a doctoral position at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering of Ghent University, I decided to change my career path to the world of business. The turning point of this occurrence was the spring of 2024 when I traveled to Washington D.C., Richmond, and New York City to visit my respected friend, who was a former director of a multinational company, Wella. I got inspired by the people I talked with in Washington D.C.: 1) a residential architect, running his own firm, who made a switch to architecture in his early 30s from a caretaker, and 2) a young Indian architect who works tirelessly in another architecture firm yet still manages to join postgraduate courses in the evenings to refine his skill further.
So then I decided that my doctoral research topic did not fit me. I seek to fulfill my curiosity in understanding the world through the lens of business and economics. Shortly after, I put in my notice and left the research group. I enrolled in a master's program in business economics at the University of Antwerp. Since I had a limited background in this, I had to take supplemental preparatory courses. Learning and building new tracks has been challenging yet very gratifying.
